There are so many different anti-virus and anti-spyware programs available. Which one is the best?

The major manufacturers in the market are McAfee, Norton and Kaspersky. All sell their solution via prepackaged software. When one purchases software, one assumes it can be used as long as the software is owned. This is not the case with McAfee and Norton. Their systems stop providing virus definition updates one year from the time the software is activated. Once virus definitions are out of date, the user is vulnerable to virus infection.
In this writer’s opinion, Kaspersky’s solution was the best. Their technology was easy to install and configure. In addition, their online and offline support were superb. Most important, this writer did not run into any virus problems while using Kaspersky.
The same could not be said for Norton and, especially, McAfee. McAfee’s phone support was especially atrocious. It took several phone calls, a $60+ “support” charge and numerous online chat sessions to remove a virus from the writer’s computer. This computer was supposed to be continually protected by their software…yet still became infected.
In short, Kaspersky’s solution is the route to go for hassle free virus protection.
