What are some of the things to consider when selecting a web host provider?

November 14, 2008

The first thing to consider when selecting a good web host is bandwidth. Many web hosts claim to supply unlimited bandwidth but this is simply not true.  If you go over your bandwidth limits for the month, expect a hefty bill to come through your door. Stay away from hosts that claim unlimited bandwidth is available. This simply isn’t true. Aim for a host that offers approximately three gigabytes of bandwidth per month to get yourself started and grow from there. Technical support for web hosts should be a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week service (24/7). If not, I’d pass them up. Depending on the content you’re hosting, adequate disk space is a must. Unless you are hosting a video site that needs a lot of space, one with approximately one gigabyte of storage space should suffice. You may also want to consider email functionality for your site as well. There are many factors to consider but many web hosts are flexible and will tell you what they offer and what bests suits your needs if you just ask. Shop around before you pick a web host because like anything, you want one that’s reliable and will furnish your needs adequately.

What are the advantages of purchasing home gym equipment, and giving up my health club membership?

November 10, 2008

Purchasing home gym equipment such as a Bowflex all in one piece of hardware, has its upsides and downsides. While you may save money in the long run over gym membership, short of spending a lot of money to customize your home gym, you won’t be able to get the same variety of equipment as a health club or real gym. Your home gym does allow you to not have to leave the comfort of your own home while still getting the benefits of a good workout. Home gyms lack professional advice though. Health club memberships often include the cost of personal physical trainers on site to answer your physical fitness needs. Also, health clubs often include pools and spas. But for those looking to cut cost out of their monthly lifestyle, basic gym equipment is relatively inexpensive and can provide the same type of workout without leaving your home.

What are some good home teeth whitening remedies?

November 10, 2008

Companies such as Crest and Listerine manufacture whitening strips that are easy to apply thin strips of chemicals that you apply to the front of your teeth. After waiting for a short period of time, the strips dissolve into your teeth and over extended use, make them whiter. As far as home made remedies are concerned, rubbing fruit, such as strawberries, along your teeth will help make them whiter. One common remedy that has been around for years is to use baking soda and vinegar. Brush your teeth with a bit of each and watch the stains on your teeth come right off. Experimentation is the only way to determine the effectiveness of a remedy and while many sound strange, the oils in many products are known to bleach and whiten teeth.

What is the difference between a tax attorney, and an accountant or bookkeeper?

November 10, 2008

To understand the difference you must first understand what each one does. A tax attorney is someone that specializes in your country’s tax laws and should you ever find yourself in trouble with the IRS or a similar organization, a tax attorney is there to help. Tax attorneys can help you lift a lien against your property or help pay off an audit from the IRS. An accountant/bookkeeper is someone that manages your finances and keeps track of all of the spending, selling, or saving you are doing as a business or as a person. Often times, accountants and bookkeepers ensure that records are kept properly and that taxes are paid.

Accountants make sure taxes are paid and if there is a problem with them being paid, you will need to hire a tax attorney.

Where can I find advice on how to lower my auto insurance premiums?

November 10, 2008

Lowering your auto insurance premiums is quite easy. You can talk to your insurance provider and see what they can do to lower your rates or you can do a few simple things to bring to the provider before you go in. You can avoid new and fast cars, which often lead to higher premiums because of what is assessed as a “higher risk.” Also, taking a driver’s education class may help. Consider purchasing an older car and getting rid of collision coverage on it. You can also practice driving carefully, as you may be able to get money taken off of your premium for not making a claim. Making claims raises your premium so avoid doing so at all costs. Lastly, your credit score may affect your premium so protecting it and keeping good credit is key to getting lower rates.

Where can I learn to be a digital photographer? Are there any online digital photography classes?

November 9, 2008

Assuming you’ve already purchased a quality SLR digital camera, you’re ready to take the next step. There are many digital photography classes available online, some of which are free. Online classes will teach you all of the basics to get yourself started with topics often including aperture, exposure, lighting, and the preparation of the subject. Once your photos have been taken and you’ve spent the time learning the tricks of the trade, you can refine your photos in a digital image editing software suite. There are free alternatives to the popular software Photoshop, such as GIMP and PhotoScape.
