In order to become a doctor and receive your doctorate in medicine you must start young. Medical students need to achieve good grades in high school in order to get into a good four year university. The four year university you attend must have a strong pre-med program that allows a curriculum strong in the maths and sciences. Once you have achieved your bachelor’s degree from a four year university, apply to medical school by taking a test called the MCAT. After you pass the exam and get into medical school and complete the rigorous academic setting in med. school, you will begin your medical residency in which you will work in a hospital for long hours every day, making a small salary. During the entire process you must pass state medical exams in order to receive a license that allows you to practice medicine.
