What are some of the things to consider when selecting a web host provider?
A:
The first thing to consider when selecting a good web host is bandwidth. Many web hosts claim to supply unlimited bandwidth but this is simply not true. If you go over your bandwidth limits for the month, expect a hefty bill to come through your door. Stay away from hosts that claim unlimited bandwidth is available. This simply isn’t true. Aim for a host that offers approximately three gigabytes of bandwidth per month to get yourself started and grow from there. Technical support for web hosts should be a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week service (24/7). If not, I’d pass them up. Depending on the content you’re hosting, adequate disk space is a must. Unless you are hosting a video site that needs a lot of space, one with approximately one gigabyte of storage space should suffice. You may also want to consider email functionality for your site as well. There are many factors to consider but many web hosts are flexible and will tell you what they offer and what bests suits your needs if you just ask. Shop around before you pick a web host because like anything, you want one that’s reliable and will furnish your needs adequately.
