What is the difference between a tax attorney, and an accountant or bookkeeper?

To understand the difference you must first understand what each one does. A tax attorney is someone that specializes in your country’s tax laws and should you ever find yourself in trouble with the IRS or a similar organization, a tax attorney is there to help. Tax attorneys can help you lift a lien against your property or help pay off an audit from the IRS. An accountant/bookkeeper is someone that manages your finances and keeps track of all of the spending, selling, or saving you are doing as a business or as a person. Often times, accountants and bookkeepers ensure that records are kept properly and that taxes are paid.
Accountants make sure taxes are paid and if there is a problem with them being paid, you will need to hire a tax attorney.
